This is a male Giant Muntjac (Muntiacus vuquangensis) that I photographed in Lac Xo (Lak Sao), Laos. This species was discovered in 1994 and I photographed it 3 years later. Muntiacus vuquangensis is also called a large-antlered muntjac. Their current population numbers don’t exist because of their elusive nature but they are listed as Critically Endangered.

This “white” Water Buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) is not a separate species. It is a Leucistic variation. The Leucistic variation is estimated to occur once in every 10 million births.

This is Lonesome George; a male Pinta Island tortoise (Chelonoidis niger abingdonii). I had the great fortune of seeing and photographing this magnificent creature many years ago. This male Pinta Island Tortoise (Galapagos Islands) was nicknamed “Lonesome George because he was the last if his species. He died in 2012.

I photographed this Spotted Linsang (Prionodon pardicolor) in Lac Xo (Lak Sao), Laos many years ago. Some population counts estimate that there are 200 left in the wild.
